Flow of Forms – Fashion Soiree: The Politics of African Fashion

As part of the exhibition Flows of Function at the museum Völkerkunde Hamburg, the platform Fashion Africa Now, founded by Fashion Consultant Beatrace Oolainvites you to a “Museums- Talk” on Thursday, July 12 at 06:30 pm until 22 pm at the museum Völkerkunde Hamburg (Rothenbaumchaussee 64).


The event focuses on the relationship between African and European history of design, fashion made in Africa and contemporary styles influenced by European culture. Regarding social and political conflict areas the talk will address topics like copyright laws, adoption of cultural interactions and production conditions.


Beatrace Oola will host the interview. Invited guests are also Mimi Plange (fashion designer from Ghana), Asandra Sizani (fashion journalist from South Africa and editor- in-chief by the South African Glamour), Ola Shobowale (art director Infinite Beauty Factory in London) and Omoyemi Akerele (founder and art director of Lagos Fashion and Design Week in 2011).

Tickets are available on the internet www.voelkerkundemuseum.com   and info@mvhamburg.de for 10 Euros. There is a discount for students, pupils and trainees (5 Euros).
